Connecting
Over the past few years, our ways of working have changed significantly, with hybrid or remote working becoming more commonplace. We are conscious that this new model could present a risk to our continued success, as the opportunities to reinforce our values, collaborate and learn from each other are very different. Connecting is an important element of our EVP, and our deliberate focus on this for the past two years has resulted in improved feedback in this year’s survey. In our first PPS in 2021, just 54% of employees felt that KBR was a fun place to work, and in 2023 the positive response to this statement was 16% higher. It’s wonderful to see how many people are thriving in our new world of work!
Our Connect Index score this year was 79%, based on your responses to the statements below.
It is clear from these statements how many of our people value their connections with managers and colleagues. The sense of caring was reinforced by many comments, such as one employee who said, “KBR Management cares! That is the one thing that takes me back, the fact that managers, regardless of where they sit within the company, care. That is strange for me considering the previous companies I worked for.” Another said, “The people who work here are incredible and really care about each other.”
Many of our team members are required to work on customer sites or to come into KBR offices because of the nature of their role. We are aware that this lack of flexibility can be a disadvantage, as highlighted by the differing responses based on work locations below.

While customer or role requirements offer us less flexibility, we are continually striving to find new ways to connect with our people, such as the first KBR Global Hackathon taking place this year, which was open to all employees — both early-career and experienced team members from all functional groups. Our well-established Communities of Interest continue to thrive, and all our people are encouraged to join and connect with subject matter experts around the world. We will keep up our efforts to engage directly with our employees wherever they are based and work with customers to enable flexible working wherever this is possible.
