Welcome
Stuart Bradie
KBR President and CEO
The people of KBR are amazing. Every day, I am honored to lead this team of teams as we strive to create a safer, more secure and sustainable world by delivering technology and solutions that help our customers accomplish their most critical missions and objectives.
In 2023 we completed our third People Perspectives Survey (PPS) so that we continue to learn from your experience. This report is written for you, to share how we did, both the highs and the lows, and to set out how we are continuing to move forward based on what you’ve told us.
I would like to thank the thousands of employees who took time to share their feedback, which is both insightful and inspiring. It is very pleasing to see that participation increased again, helped this year by the introduction of our first PPS+ survey for project hires. Overall we had almost 17,000 participants, and a further breakdown is shown in this chart.
We continued our partnership with Great Place to Work (GPTW), who runs the survey on our behalf to ensure all responses are anonymous. I was very pleased to see that now 84% of our people believe that KBR is a Great Place to Work — an increase of 2% on 2022 and 4% on 2021. This positive feedback has resulted in us achieving formal certification as a Great Place to Work in Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, Germany, India, Iraq, Malaysia, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.
“We have made good progress on having a greater sense of purpose in what we do — changing the world in positive ways versus typical business goals.”
“It is clear that safety/Zero Harm is not just a checkbox exercise in this organization, but more a company culture that cares for employee well-being overall.”
In 2023, we set out a new employee value proposition (EVP), the unique set of offerings that we believe make KBR an attractive employer for the best and brightest talent. Our EVP is centered on our shared purpose and reinforced by our ONE KBR Values, and aims to deliver an employee experience where you can belong, connect and grow.
We are using your feedback to see how we measure up against this aim, and three of the highlights that stood out to me are shown below.
86% of our employees feel a sense of pride in what we accomplish, up 1% on 2022. The mission focus of KBR people is clear. After all, you are helping address the great challenges of our time, and it is inspiring to see how this strong sense of purpose resonates across the world.
87% believe that our goal of Zero Harm is achievable, an increase from 85% in 2022. I am extremely heartened by this clear support for our safety culture across KBR. Keeping our people safe is our number one priority, and with your help we continue to improve our safety record year after year.
85% of respondents said they can be themselves at KBR, up from 83% last year. Our commitment to creating a sense of belonging for all employees runs deep, and it is reassuring to see that this is matched by your experience.
As always, we have identified areas where we want to make further improvements, and you will read more about these focus areas throughout the report. With 87% of you saying you are proud to work at KBR (up from 85% in 2022), I’m pleased that we are continuing to make improvements, and look forward to working with you over the coming year as we take the next important steps.
“I love how one can communicate with the senior managers without any fear or stress. They do not judge or answer back by looking at your position if you are junior or senior.”
