KBR completed the functional and detailed design for upgrades to Gippsland Water's Drouin Wastewater Treatment Plant in Victoria, Australia. The plant is being augmented to meet a 2050 design horizon, with a new membrane bioreactor activated sludge mechanical treatment plant. The improvements will reduce operations and maintenance labor requirements and minimize life cycle costs.
KBR DELIVERED DESIGNS FOR NEW FINE SCREENS, MEMBRANE BIOREACTOR AND AERATION SYSTEMS, A SLUDGE DEWATERING FACILITY, CHEMICAL DOSING AND ODOR TREATMENT PLANTS, A NEW OPERATIONS BUILDING, AND ASSOCIATED CIVIL, ELECTRICAL AND CONTROL WORKS.
This project also included a virtual reality (VR) model for the entire facility. It was the first time Gippsland Water had used VR to better review design and to manage stakeholder and community expectations.
