KBR Introduces Microsoft Teams Globally

This April, KBR successfully deployed Microsoft Teams, a hub for teamwork located in the Microsoft Cloud that offers users a variety of collaboration tools. Now offered to all employees across the global KBR network, the application brings together several features in one place to enhance productivity, efficiency and creativity.

The deployment of Microsoft Teams was timely, as the COVID-19 outbreak quickly forced KBR employees to work remotely. Given the circumstances, our teams from Houston to Dubai to Beijing have begun leveraging Microsoft Teams to its full extent to ensure global business continuity and collaboration remain intact.

Teams is a great platform for collaboration regardless of where our employees are working from and has been used for work-related activities such as client meetings, webinars, training and safety talks. Individuals are also using the platform for social networking, yoga, Zumba sessions, and tea or coffee breaks to catch up with their colleagues.

In particular, KBR’s Corporate Talent Development group has put on weekly Virtual Coffee Calls on Friday mornings with managers and emerging leaders throughout the company. Led by Bob Newhouse, Vice President, Talent Development, and Jade Marcantel, Director, Talent Development, the group discusses how to overcome challenges faced while working remotely and tools that can be leveraged in order to be more successful leaders at KBR. Additionally, calls often feature industry guest speakers, including from NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Young professionals in IMPACT, a career development organization for KBR employees, have hosted virtual Lunch & Learns and happy hours over Teams, engaging their membership in ways like never before. IMPACT chairs from 11 KBR offices around the world also gather on Teams for a monthly call to discuss global collaboration and strategy. ASPIRE, KBR’s employee resource group for cultivating women leaders, holds their monthly board of directors meeting and has also scheduled future webinars and leadership sessions on Teams.

“The addition of Microsoft Teams across the KBR global network has had a significant effect on KBR’s business collaboration and productivity, with more than 90% of our workforce working remotely,” “A special thanks to KBR’s Information Technology team for a successful rollout and implementation of the application during these difficult times.”
- PHILIP IVY, VICE PRESIDENT, GLOBAL MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Teams has created a sense of connectivity while employees are unable to work face to face. As our workforce continues to work remotely where possible, Teams will be a crucial factor in our ability to work together and deliver for our customers and one another.
