KBR Sponsorship Framework

for Getting Started

Sponsorship at KBR is one of many initiatives and activities supporting KBR’s inclusion and diversity strategy. We would expect that through sponsorship KBR will in turn build a more diverse leadership population.

Best practice suggests that organic pairing of sponsee and sponsor is most effective, so there is no formal matching process established for sponsorship. For leaders, when determining whether to sponsor someone, consider the following:

  • What are my criteria for sponsoring someone? Do they exemplify KBR Values?
  • Am I applying my criteria equitably across all the people I could sponsor?
  • Are there people I see as high performing who seem to be consistently flying under the radar?
  • Does this person have ambitions to advance? Do they have the potential and aptitude?
  • Would you advocate for this person to be promoted when appropriate?
  • Is there trust and reciprocity?
  • Is this a person you can see in a multiyear sponsor relationship?
  • Think BIG — does this person have the potential to be part of your legacy?

Tips for the Sponsee

When preparing for an initial discussion with your sponsor, here are some ideas to consider and articulate during your meeting:

  • A list of people you know that you feel can help you achieve your career goals
