Our road experience
Comprehensive Technical Services Panel (CTSP), NSW
Together as the Better Konnected Joint Venture, KBR and Beca supports Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) on the development, delivery, management and coordination of integrated professional services for its portfolio of projects under the CTSP.
This involves the delivery of multi-disciplinary services on significant and complex road infrastructure projects that require a combination of geotechnical, environment, road and bridge design services.
Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade, QLD
The $650 million Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade Project involved widening 3.3 km of road from four to six lanes to increase road capacity and improve safety.
KBR, as one of the design partners, provided design services for structural, civil, drainage, pavement, Intelligent Transport Systems and electrical engineering elements as well as construction phase support. An innovative 1.2 km long retaining wall structure was designed to support the six-lane road corridor with cantilevered separate cycle and pedestrian paths over the Brisbane River.
Darlington Upgrade Project, SA
The Darlington Upgrade Project delivered a 3 km section of the North South Corridor and involved grade separating three intersections in the metropolitan area from arterial traffic.
KBR, in a joint venture, delivered the design with a focus on digital engineering through a federated 3D design, incorporating 12D, MX and Revit models and provided a design output which supported stakeholder visualisation and complex construction planning in a highly constrained environment.
Major Road Projects Victoria Design Delivery Panel, VIC
Alongside construction partner Decmil, KBR is delivering the northern package of the Barwon Heads Road Upgrade, an environmentally sensitive road duplication.
KBR is providing drainage, flooding, road geometry and alignment and structural design solutions that minimise harm to biodiversity and safeguard the natural landscape within the local Jerringot Wetlands. To further protect the environment, KBR’s industry-leading sustainability subject matter experts are collaborating with Decmil to maximise the use of recycled and reused materials during construction and reduce the project’s carbon footprint.
