What’s it like to work at KBR?

WHERE TO START?!

We’ve been recognized by the likes of Glassdoor, Fortune and Forbes for our leadership, innovation and dedication to workplace equality.

We’ve been named a Great Place to Work in more than a dozen countries around the world — based on our people’s feedback.

We’ve received top marks for our commitment to ESG (environmental, social and governance principles).

Meanwhile, our people are out there doing things that matter, delivering solutions that are LITERALLY changing the world.

They’re the top experts in their fields — areas like national security, space exploration and security, energy transition, cybersecurity, climate change, artificial intelligence, and the list goes on. We’re winning exciting new work and repeat contracts, not to mention a healthy backlog, because our clients trust us and know we’re serious about doing what we say we’re going to do and getting the job done.

But it’s not ALL serious. We also like to have a good time, let our hair down, and (dare we say it?) have a little fun!

Here’s just a sampling of some of the exciting stuff we’ve been up to recently.

THE KBR GLOBAL HACKATHON
CELEBRATING OUTSTANDING LEADERS
THE 2024 TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE

THE KBR GLOBAL HACKATHON

Last year, the IMPACT employee resource group sponsored the first ever

KBR Global Hackathon

Teams from all over the world faced off in regional competitions, working around the clock for 48 hours on challenges in the areas of sustainability, digitalization and employer branding. The winning teams from six regions then flew to Abu Dhabi for a final round showdown, presenting their innovative ideas to members of KBR’s executive leadership.

When the dust (er, sand) cleared, the last team standing was the excellently named “The Only Ones Who Can Do the Job That Needs to Be Done.” The five-person crew based in Australia — Ciaran Somerville, Alexander Stevenson, Tim Pettigrew, Sam Bull and Simon Scott — pitched KBR Pulse, a cutting-edge, AI-driven asset management solution.

The reward? An unforgettable world tour of some of the exciting locations where KBR operates and the opportunity to learn more about our global business firsthand. Their trip this past May included stops in Singapore, Chennai, London, Washington D.C. and Houston.

THE FORUM

At KBR, we’re committed to growing our workforce, enhancing our culture and developing our leadership talent. KBR people managers are essential in achieving those aims and play a critical role in executing KBR’s business strategies while also bringing the KBR employee value proposition to life.

To celebrate the invaluable contributions of outstanding leaders from across the company and their dedication to the company’s success, KBR proudly launched a new annual event, The Forum, a three-day immersive gathering featuring learning sessions with KBR senior and executive leaders, breakout groups and team-building activities.

The inaugural event was held in June 2024 on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The first cohort included more than 40 leaders from around the world. Future cohorts will be nonrecurring so we can recognize and celebrate more of our outstanding workforce.

THE 2024 TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE

Eyes across the contiguous United States were (hopefully not directly) on the sun on April 8, 2024,

for a total solar eclipse.

Members of the team of teams assembled on the top level of the parking structure across from KBR Tower to watch as the moon passed between the sun and earth, completely blocking the sun. (Rude!) Eclipse watchers were treated to space-themed treats including Star Bursts, Moon Pies and Capri Suns.

But that’s not all! While millions of spectators were checking out the cosmic display, KBR was proudly enhancing NASA’s coverage. KBR contributors included science writers, live broadcasters, and members of the NASA Heliophysics and Hubble Space Telescope outreach teams, all bringing expertise and enthusiasm to the occasion.

Highlighting KBR’s involvement was James Tralie, a Webby Award-winning KBR senior multimedia specialist stationed at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. James co-hosted the NASA eclipse live broadcast from Kennedy Space Center and ran the “Eclipse Board,” tracking the totality from Mexico to Maine. The broadcast was viewed by more than 100 million people across the web and picked up by several major news outlets. Way to go, James!
