Decision advantage and sovereign capability partnership for Australian Defence

The Australian Department of Defence (Defence) is developing and sustaining superior capability amid accelerating technological change - increasing system interdependence, reducing workforce constraints and improving its ability to operate with trusted partners. KBR is committed to supporting approaches that identify and reduce risk, enable informed decision making and allow effective adaptation of capability over time in response to technological and environmental imperatives.

We partner with Defence to address these challenges through the practical application of digital engineering, modelling and simulation to electronic warfare, targeting and decision support activities. This improves visibility, integration and prioritisation across the entire capability lifecycle, supporting integrated force design, managing legacy systems and data governance, enabling interoperability whilst maintaining Australian sovereign control.

KBR operates alongside Defence teams to embed methods, advanced tools and more effective and efficient processes, enabling earlier option assessment, clear understanding of cross domain impacts and iterative advancement of internal capability. Where appropriate, we draw on approaches proven in operational use with the United States Department of Defense, enabling Defence to adapt them in context while building local workforce skills, industry participation and enduring sovereign ownership.

Partner-led digital engineering & digital transformation

KBR works as a trusted capability partner, aligned to mission outcomes and national priorities. Our approach is founded on strengthening operational effectiveness while building enduring sovereign capability.

Digital engineering in support of the mission KBR defines digital engineering as an integrated, end-to-end lifecycle capability bringing together trusted data, digital tools, models and efficient processes to improve engineering, acquisition, sustainment and asset performance, thereby delivering faster and more accurate insight, greater decision confidence, and improved mission outcomes.

Digital transformation that delivers lasting change Our digital transformation approach focuses on bringing people, process and technology together to drive meaningful and sustainable behavioural change. We focus on partnership, cultural alignment and skills transfer to ensure Defence can independently sustain and evolve its digital capability.

We support Defence and industry partners by delivering:

Reduced lifecycle risk Through shared digital environments, trusted data and evidence based decision making across acquisition, sustainment and operational endeavours

Digital processes that enable force-multiplification of existing assets and platforms Through improved management and integration that reduces the risk of siloed capability

Interoperability with U.S. and AUKUS partners While preserving Australian ownership, control and assurance of data and capability

Mission aligned partnerships Embedding our technical teams to solve complex engineering and capability challenges and ensuring continuous, best practice evolution of technical tools and processes on behalf of Defence

Accelerated sovereign capability growth Through co-development, skills transfer and hands on mentoring
