Belonging

We firmly believe that diverse perspectives are essential for business success. Having a broad set of experiences and backgrounds helps KBR innovate and deliver better solutions for our customers.
The summary score for our Belong value held steady at 87% year over year and shows a solid footing for making KBR a place that everyone feels welcomed and they are treated fairly. The statement, “When people change jobs or work units, they are made to feel right at home,” remains the lowest in the Belong grouping, dropping 1% since last year. Local action plans will therefore address improving onboarding and orientation offerings to employees who move between teams and business units where this is a priority area.
Our Belong Index score is based on the responses to the statements below.

A large majority of employees continue to say they can be themselves at KBR, a testament to the welcoming and supportive environment we foster across the company. Of note is the 10% increase year over year among those identifying as “other gender identity.” Even with continued strength of scores in this area, we will continue striving for a fully inclusive culture and ask each individual to make fair treatment and a welcoming environment top priority for your work group and area. The following demographic breakdown shows how responses on “I can be myself” vary between different groups.

We understand that this can be an emotionally charged issue and want to respect differences of opinion. KBR remains steadfast in its commitment to reflect the diversity of the communities and customers we serve, and to make the company a place where all people feel a sense of belonging and connection and experience opportunities to grow. We continue to hire, develop, and promote based on performance and potential, considering all qualified employees and candidates.

Once again comments in the 2024 PPS and PP+ express a broad range of perspectives and experience of diversity around KBR. An overwhelming number of comments express support for our continued efforts around inclusion and diversity (I&D).

“The diversity here blows me away. I've had a long career working at some very good companies, but KBR embodies what I feel diversity should look and feel like.”

“The environment is inclusive, diverse and always looking to improve on this [with] new initiatives showing its long-term commitment to its staff.”

“KBR provides many avenues for sharing information and promoting diversity of thoughts and ideas. They create an open and welcoming environment which allows you to participate comfortably without judgement.”

“KBR is a standout among many companies in engineering and construction industry due to its devotion to safety, creativity, sustainability, employee development and diversity.”

Our employee resource groups (ERGs) make up a critical part of the fabric of KBR, adding depth to the sense of belonging. As one employee said, “I love being a member of multiple ERG groups. They make coming to work exciting.” Activities around the globe celebrating local cultures and heritage days, recognizing veterans, and providing learning, education and networking are all provided by volunteer leaders and members. The experience of belonging at KBR will continue to be strengthened by these energetic groups as we continue our I&D journey.
