Exploring Excellence in Modular Fabrication at L&T Kattupalli

A team of 19 members visited L&T’s Modular Fabrication Facility (MFF) in Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu, a cutting-edge facility specializing in modular units for onshore and offshore projects, including oil & gas platforms, wind farm structures, and process modules. Strategically located, the facility is equipped with advanced automation, including automatic blasting, plasma cutting, and heavy material handling, ensuring efficiency and precision. The visit provided valuable exposure to state-of-the-art fabrication techniques, reinforcing the advantages of modular construction—minimizing site work, enhancing safety, and enabling seamless transportation through Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT). This experience deepened the team’s understanding of L&T’s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation in modular fabrication, offering insights into how automation and technology are shaping the future of the industry.

Bridging Theory and Practice: Bergen Pipe Support Visit Trainee engineers gained valuable industry exposure during their visit to Bergen Pipe Support, exploring the critical role of pipe supports in structural integrity and stress reduction. The visit provided hands-on insights into production processes, quality control, and testing, offering a deeper understanding of real-world engineering applications. Interacting with experienced engineers and advanced technologies enriched their practical knowledge, reinforcing the importance of precision and reliability in industrial operations. Such immersive experiences bridge the gap between theory and practice, equipping future engineers with the skills and insights needed to navigate industry challenges effectively.

KBR’s Technical Excellence Shines at CORCON-2024 The Piping Department showcased its expertise by publishing two technical papers at CORCON-2024, Asia’s largest corrosion conference. The event brought together 815 industry experts from around the world, featuring six plenary talks, 12 keynote lectures, 150+ technical papers across 23 sessions, and 18 poster presentations. KBR’s authors proudly represented the organization, contributing valuable insights to the engineering community. Their participation not only enhanced industry credibility but also reinforced team collaboration, with both seasoned professionals and young GET members playing a key role. This recognition strengthens KBR’s brand visibility, paving the way for new opportunities while driving innovation and best practices in the field.

P-78 Yard Visit: Enhancing Future Planning On January 11, 2025, a team conducted a P-78 yard visit to assess its current condition and layout, focusing on key areas such as under pipe racks, escape paths, and safety showers. The visit aimed to provide a comprehensive overview without any operational activities or interventions. Key observations included yard organization, infrastructure, and potential areas for improvement. This assessment will play a vital role in supporting future planning and decision-making, ensuring optimized layouts and enhanced operational efficiency.

ACFD Project Team's Site Visit to ExxonMobil Antwerp From January 7 to January 10, 2025, the ACFD Project team conducted a four-day site visit to the ExxonMobil site in Antwerp, Belgium, for surveys related to the Antwerp Centre Feed Device Project. Despite extreme weather conditions, the ExxonMobil team commended KBR’s structured approach and seamless alignment with the agenda. The visit provided critical insights into site conditions, operational constraints, and integration requirements, strengthening collaboration between both teams. These findings will contribute to better planning, risk mitigation, and the efficient execution of future project phases.

Piping Department Team-Building Event Last December, the Piping Department came together for a memorable team-building outing, filled with engaging activities, fun games, and interactive sessions. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to connect beyond the workplace, fostering collaboration, camaraderie, and mutual respect.
