Global Connections

There are approximately 29,000 KBR employees all across the globe. Though we are separated by miles, we are all connected and working together toward a common purpose — to design and deliver the future while improving our social and environmental impact. In Global Connections, we celebrate KBR’s culture of inclusion and diversity by highlighting employees and the communities where they live around the world.

Singapore

Though physically small, Singapore (officially the Republic of Singapore) is an economic giant. The island city-state has been Southeast Asia's most modern city for over a century. Singapore blends Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian, and English cultures and religions reflected by its full calendar of traditional festivals and holidays celebrated throughout the year, which adds to its cultural appeal. Its unique ethnic tapestry offers visitors a wide array of sightseeing and culinary opportunities. Established in 1971, KBR’s Singapore office recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

A Strategic Presence in the Region KBR Singapore primarily serves the Sustainable Technology Solutions business segment, specifically Advisory Consulting and Asset Solutions–International. Proud to be recognized as a key center of excellence in offshore energy production, KBR Singapore offers customers more than 50 years’ project experience and has been most recently recognized for work with Woodside, MODEC, Sembcorp Marine and Siccar Point Energy. With sustainability at the heart of the business offering, KBR’s Advisory Consulting team has seen exponential growth with recent wins, strengthening KBR Singapore’s position as a key strategic adviser to the Singapore government, as well as other prestigious partners in the region.

Living Our Zero Harm Commitment Philanthropy and volunteerism are key attributes of KBR's company culture and employees take great pride in supporting community initiatives and organizations around the world. Singapore charities have reported that 1 in 10 households struggle to get sufficient and nutritious food at least once over a 12-month period. As part of the Zero Harm Community Engagement Pillar, KBR Singapore has begun a Food Charity Drive as a way of giving back to the local community in the lead-up to Chinese New Year. Employees have been personally donating to the food drive and quickly exceeded their goal.

KBR is proud of its industry-leading commitment to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) and the Singapore office is no exception. Their three-phase workplace safety and health program involves a proactive, comprehensive and integrated assessment of all workplace risks — from employee health and safety to mental well-being. This approach recognizes that work affects total health and vice versa, and that both employees and employers should collaborate in a continuous improvement process to thoroughly reduce risks. Enhancing health and safety at work diminishes the risks of injury and poor health, leading to better well-being for employees and a more productive workforce.

Numerous new initiatives have been introduced at the office to promote employee health and well-being, including ”Fruit for Life – Peel the difference,“ a program that provides fruit throughout the month for employees to enjoy. Furthermore, the recently commissioned KBR Integrity Gardens have provided a peaceful outside sanctuary for employees to have their lunch away from their desk and screens.

Environmental sustainability is also a top priority in Singapore. As one of the first offices to kickstart KBR One Ocean outside of the U.K., KBR Singapore’s passion for sustainability doesn’t go unnoticed. The program started in October 2019 with a One Ocean–Zero Harm Family Day. This included a beach cleanup and safety event spearheaded by KBR staff and family members, in collaboration with 28 students from Yuvabharathi International School. Despite the global pandemic and national lockdowns, the team hasn’t stopped teaching and collaborating virtually with the students to find engineering solutions to the worldwide problem of plastic waste in our oceans.
