AI and the New KBR Enterprise
Creating a Digital Backbone: How AI Will Enable the New KBR Enterprise
As KBR continues building its future as a more focused, technology-enabled company, employees in the recent New KBR town hall asked how the organization is preparing for an increasingly digital and AI-driven world. Chief Digital and Development Officer Greg Conlon Chief People Officer Jenni Myles shared how investments in modern systems, data, and artificial intelligence are creating new opportunities to work smarter and deliver greater value for customers and within KBR.
Building a Modern Digital Backbone
KBR's technology transformation extends beyond replacing systems. The goal is to create a more connected, data-centric environment that enables smarter decision-making and greater efficiency across the business. The "digital backbone" will connect applications and trusted data and standardize workflows, enabling us to scale expertise, accelerate innovation, and deliver more consistent outcomes across projects and customers. Greg noted that the work will continue well beyond the enterprise resource planning implementation, but also assured our people that this is not modernization for its own sake! This is a deliberate approach to standardize, automate and create a modern data-centric enterprise platform that improves visibility, reduces complexity, and enables digital delivery at scale.
"Once we complete the Microsoft Dynamics rollout in early 2027, we really move the whole digital backbone of KBR to a much more modern platform… We're going away from app-to-app configurations, modernizing our apps, and making sure we're working in a more cloud-driven, data-centric ecosystem."
Greg Conlon, Chief Digital Officer

AI Starts With Learning
KBR's AI journey is already well underway. More than 17,000 employees have completed the company's AI Foundations training, providing a starting point for experimenting with and adopting tools such as Copilot to understand how AI can support everyday work.
Employees can continue building their skills through the AI Hub and the Level Up campaign, which provide learning resources, governance guidance, and examples of AI in action across KBR.
"AI is going to be part of how we all operate for the future. Please take responsibility for developing your skills in AI, just as you do with other areas."
Jenni Myles, Chief People Officer
Turning AI Into Business Value
While adoption is important, leaders emphasized that the real opportunity lies in applying AI to improve project delivery, serve customers, and unlock new ways of working. The objective is not simply to deploy AI tools or save time, but to improve decisions, manage risk more effectively, and create measurable value for customers and KBR.
Leaders noted that AI initiatives and training investments will continue to be driven by business need, ensuring employees receive the capabilities most relevant to their roles and objectives.
"The adoption is really not where you drive the value. The value comes when we recognize use cases, create value on projects, and create value for customers… The human is actually the value add. The human still makes the decision."
Greg Conlon, Chief Digital Officer
Accelerating KBR's Future Via Our Innovation Funnel
Today, AI is already supporting functions, projects, and operations across the company. As adoption grows and use cases expand, leaders see an opportunity for KBR to differentiate itself through speed, adaptability, and innovation.
"We want to get very deliberate and focused about how to create value from AI. If we do that correctly, AI will simply accelerate KBR."
Greg Conlon, Chief Digital Officer
Have an idea for how AI could improve the way we work or deliver for our customers? Share it with Will Ferrier or Anish George for review through KBR's Innovation Funnel. The process is designed to turn promising ideas into practical solutions. We want to rapidly test concepts, demonstrate value, and scale successful innovations across the business to create repeatable benefits for both KBR and our customers.
