CONNECTIONS

There are approximately 36,000 KBR employees across the globe. Though we’re separated by miles, we are all connected by our values and shared purpose. In Global Connections, we celebrate our diverse team of teams by highlighting some of the places where we live and work.

In our first edition of 2026, we’re excited to feature Infrastructure Solutions Australia and the work they’re doing to build KBR’s workforce of the future.

Developing Future Talent Across Australia

KBR’s Infrastructure Solutions Australia early-career programs play a vital role in strengthening our talent pipeline and supporting the next generation of professionals. At any given time, we have more than 100 interns and graduates moving through our development programs. Last year, 41 graduates and 37 summer interns joined our teams across five locations and eight disciplines, each supported by structured development, real project experience and meaningful mentorship. These programs are designed to build capability, confidence and long-term career pathways.

The Summer Internship Program

Running annually from mid‑November to mid‑February, our 12‑week Summer Internship Program is one of the biggest feeders for our Graduate Development Program. University students who are completing their final years of study join as interns as a way to apply their academic learning in real project environments. Interns are placed within a single team for the duration of the program, allowing them to contribute on meaningful deliverables and understand how project work is delivered in practice.

Throughout the program, interns are closely supported, encouraged to try new things, given real-world projects and, importantly, are allowed to fail. Interns also attend meetings with customers and senior professionals in the business, which helps them to begin building life-long professional networks and develop confidence in a professional setting.

CASE STUDY

One of our 2025 interns, Michael Buccheri, says the internship gave him early responsibility and practical application of his studies. Working on fast‑moving infrastructure projects, he applied his university learning to real design tasks and built confidence by presenting his work to senior team members.

Guidance from his manager, mentor and buddy reinforced the importance of curiosity, learning through mistakes and asking questions, helping Michael clarify his interests and shape his future career direction. Read more about Michael Buccheri’s experience.

The Graduate Development Program

As part of the Infrastructure Solutions program, graduates join the business as permanent employees from day one, working as part of project teams on real‑world infrastructure challenges.

The Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a structured two-year journey combining on-the-job learning, formal development sessions, mentoring and regular check-ins. All of this exposes graduates to KBR’s commitment to belonging, connection and growth from the earliest stages. Each graduate follows a clear development pathway aligned with KBR’s career framework and are supported by leaders and teams across the business.

Graduates can also choose to broaden their experience through optional rotations, gaining exposure to different parts of the organization while contributing to real project work. With two main intakes each year, the program provides early-career professionals from diverse backgrounds a chance to put their skills into practice. Importantly, many of our graduates join us after having completed the program. Additional graduates are hired via our annual recruitment campaign. In 2025, we welcomed 41 new graduates, further strengthening our early-career community.

One of our graduates, Sabrina Till,  a graduate process engineer, says the GDP has given her responsibility and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to real project work. Through hands‑on design tasks, Sabrina has been able to apply her university learning, build confidence and take ownership of deliverables that directly support project outcomes.

Support from her team and access to experienced engineers across the business have helped Sabrina develop strong technical, problem‑solving and communication skills, while clarifying her career pathway. Read more about Sabrina Till’s experience.

GradConnect

A defining moment in the graduate journey, GradConnect marks the culmination of two years of learning, project experience and professional growth.

Bringing together second‑year graduates from across Australia, the event gives second-year graduates the opportunity to step back from day‑to‑day project work and reflect on how far they’ve come. Graduates take part in lightning talks and share insights from their experiences across different teams and disciplines.

Just as importantly, GradConnect creates space for connection. Many graduates meet colleagues at GradConnect that they’ve collaborated with virtually over the past two years but haven’t yet met face to face. This is a chance for them to not only have fun and celebrate the end of the program, but also to strengthen relationships and build networks that will support them as they progress their careers at KBR.

As Michelle de Baugy, Talent Development Business Partner, shared, “GradConnect is more than an event; it’s a celebration of growth and a reminder of the incredible potential we have across our business.” Watch the video for more information.

Growing Careers Beyond the Program

Many former graduates continue to build long-term careers at KBR, progressing into technical, advisory and leadership roles. Their journeys highlight the lasting impact of early-career development and the opportunities that follow.
