FUNCTIONAL FOCUS
Each quarter, KBR Link’s Functional Focus highlights the teams behind the business and explains how their work, recent wins, improvements and new initiatives affect you and benefit KBR.
In this edition, we’re pleased to feature KBR’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) function, the team leading our journey to Zero Harm! The HSSE team champions our industry-leading safety performance, including our constant downward trend in recordable incidents and our recognition as one of America’s Safest Companies!

The HSSE team’s efforts guide our Zero Harm mission all year long, but the safety spotlight shines brightest on Zero Harm Day. It’s our yearly celebration of progress toward creating safer workplaces for our people and is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.
KBR celebrated our 11th annual Zero Harm Day on February 25, with project sites and business groups worldwide hosting their own activities and events. Below are a few highlights.
In Houston, the celebration on the KBR south lawn included live Zydeco music, cornhole games and a 360° photo booth. Team members indulged in a free taco bar, relaxed with therapy dogs, played virtual bingo and entered to win an airline ticket raffle. In Leatherhead, CEO Stuart Bradie grabbed a shovel to plant a tree, representing our goal to promote global reforestation and biodiversity. U.K. employees also received virtual reality safety training and learned CPR using manikins (models used for medical training) and automated external defibrillator training remotes. Plus, they underwent four-minute health checks, gaining critical insights about blood pressure, diabetes risk and body composition.
In Singapore, employees struck a pose at a photobooth and attended a Zero Harm Day town hall that featured an HSSE quiz, a cake cutting, and a children’s art competition! Employees’ children, ages 12 and under, drew and colored incredible masterpieces based on the theme of achieving Zero Harm. Team members collected biscuits, oats, rice and canned goods for Food from the Heart — a local food bank — in the spirit of KBR’s commitment to doing what’s right for the communities where we live.

In Jakarta, employees also supported a charitable food drive and held a children’s art competition, featuring colorful creations about stopping plastic pollution, being safe at construction sites and ending bullying. Employees also gathered to sign their personal commitments to delivering Zero Harm and to indulge in a delicious, custom Zero Harm Day cake.
In Huntsville, 325 employees enjoyed on-site massages, BBQ lunch, specialty sodas, a fun photobooth experience and more than $11,000 in giveaways — including two first-class airline tickets. Plus, local and national partners from the Green Team Huntsville, Go Rescue, the American Heart Association, Lyra, meQ and OK NoW, were on hand to offer live demonstrations and helpful information.

In Jubail, KBR teams at Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP) got an early jump on the Zero Harm Day celebrations at the beginning of February. The site earned special recognition from SATORP’s CEO for a recent major turnaround at the location, a powerful demonstration of KBR’s Zero Harm commitment.
