Growing Our Future

How KBR’s Early Careers Team Powers Belonging, Connection and Growth

How the Early Careers Team Opens Doors for Emerging Talent

KBR’s Early Careers (EC) team is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of innovators, leaders and problem solvers. Through KBR FUTURE Talent programs — including graduate development schemes, internships, work experience and apprenticeship programs in the U.K. — the EC team provides structured, meaningful pathways for emerging talent to integrate into the business across multiple disciplines.

Every program is designed to help every employee belong, connect and grow at its core. The concept of “belong, connect and grow” is part of KBR’s employee value proposition (EVP), or the total employee experience we strive to deliver for our people. From the very first day, early career professionals are encouraged to immerse themselves in KBR’s culture, build meaningful networks, and develop both personally and professionally.

Throughout the organization, the EC team drives meaningful initiatives such as National Apprenticeship Week and university engagement events, while also providing the tools, guidance, and opportunities that help young professionals feel informed, engaged and connected.

Whether coordinating campus outreach, hosting development workshops, or supporting line managers, the team’s mission is simple: to open doors for the talent who will shape KBR’s future.

Why Supporting Early Careers Is Essential

The work of the EC team strengthens KBR’s long-term capability, enriches its culture, and helps position KBR for continued success.

We have a duty to identify and embrace early talent, who will become the future technical experts and leaders in our business. Our work with local schools, colleges and universities helps students get to know KBR, our values and our post-school and -university opportunities. We aim to be a friendly, local, accessible employer.

The EC team’s mission extends beyond recruitment. It’s also about ensuring every early career joiner has a meaningful experience that sets them up for success. Siobhan Goodchild, Early Career Business Partner shares, “The experience for early careers talent in our programs is just as important, with meaningful work, learning and a welcoming community from day one. We think in the long term, empowering our early career professionals to invest in their own journey and thrive by saying yes to opportunities on offer.”

This long-term mindset is essential. By nurturing new talent, KBR builds a pipeline of engaged professionals who can bring creativity, fresh thinking and diverse perspectives to major projects across the business.

Spotlight on Our Work in Action

The EC team's work has had a transformative effect on hundreds of graduates, interns, apprentices and T-Level students (a two-year qualification in England designed to give 16- to 19-year-olds a headstart in the career of their choice). Many have progressed into permanent positions, specialist roles and leadership pathways across KBR.

Nathan Mildner, former T-Level placement, is one of hundreds who has benefitted from KBR EC programs:

“I spent nine weeks with KBR, and during that time I learned so much about engineering and how different disciplines work together to deliver projects. The people I worked with made complex software seem simple, and I had the chance to work with real-world examples of the projects KBR develops. I spent time with the electrical, mechanical, piping and instrumentation departments learning about what they do and how they collaborate with other teams. I also got to see a wide range of projects and gained an appreciation for the variety of things the company designs and delivers. Overall, it was a great experience. I learned a lot and met loads of brilliant people who supported me. The experience helped me decide the path I want to follow and the discipline I want to specialize in. For any other T-Level students, I would definitely recommend reaching out to the Early Careers team at KBR to explore how they can support you.”

The Early Careers team is helping young professionals take their first steps with confidence — offering guidance, community and real opportunities to learn. And as these individuals grow, contribute and find their place within the business, they help KBR grow too, bringing new ideas, fresh perspectives, and meaningful energy that strengthens the organization in ways that truly matter.
