Would you tell us about your career journey?

My educational background is in finance and business. I started my career in 1990 working for Ryland Mortgage and Banking Company as a loan specialist in Columbia, Maryland. After a year, I took a position with Bendix Field Engineering working in the Middle East as a business analyst on various US government contracts. After a couple of years in the Middle East I moved back to the US and worked in various positions within the finance and accounting functions working for AlliedSignal Aerospace. About 10 years into my career with Allied, I moved into operations and held various program management and director-level positions. During this same time Allied purchased Honeywell and kept the name Honeywell where I worked within the HTSI GovCon division. When KBR purchased HTSI in 2017, I was the program director for the MCPP contract. In 2018, I moved into the role of director of operations for multiple programs to include all the prepositioning programs, Diego Garcia and AFCAP. I became VP of Support Services for Readiness and Sustainment (R&S) in 2021 then assumed the role of vice president of operations for R&S in 2023.

What’s something that inspires or motivates you?

Seeing people who work really hard, do things the right way and achieve goals.

What’s the best advice you ever received, professional or otherwise?

I had a leader tell me many years ago: Always volunteer and be willing to take on tough assignments. It will make you better and open up opportunities in the future. Also, always assume positive intent when you have a conflict with someone. Try to understand perspectives that differ from your own. It helps to resolve conflict and increase probability of successful outcomes in business negotiations.

What’s one piece of advice you frequently give?

Listen to people and always be a self-aware learner.

What’s a prime example of how you’ve experienced KBR’s culture of community and kindness? I love the fact that we as a company participate in so many events that help people such as the U.S. Marine Corps scholarship foundation. It makes a big difference.

BONUS: How do KBR’s people inspire you? The willingness of people to stop what they are doing to help when another coworker has a challenge is just amazing. Also, I’m inspired by the thousands of employees who leave their families for long periods of time to work on missions in remote locations. I’m also inspired by the technology that we develop that leads to better utilization of energy resources and improves the U.S. and global security.
