MAKING OUR VISION A REALITY

The Next Steps on KBR’s Transformational Journey

For years, KBR has been on a journey toward becoming a global, diversified tech leader in strong markets of growing international importance.

Along the way, we’ve been disciplined and executed our long-term strategy, even in the face of extraordinary circumstances.

We reimagined KBR in the wake of COVID-19 and ongoing geopolitical upheaval, streamlining the company to reduce risk, to drive stable, predictable growth, and to position ourselves as a global employer of choice.

Together, we’ve honed our focus and differentiated ourselves through a unique portfolio of tech-driven solutions, IP, domain expertise and digital innovation.

The result?

In short, we’re living our vision.

We are a KBR that’s trusted by governments and companies around the world to help deliver their most critical missions and objectives, all while solving humankind’s greatest challenges.

That’d be a nice place to end the story, but … We’re just getting started.

This summer, our leadership announced the next evolution of KBR into a fully integrated tech company, a restructured and enhanced business with synergies that reach across business unit lines and disciplines, better enabling us to meet the demands of today and tomorrow.

BUSINESS RESTRUCTURING THAT PRIMES US FOR BUSINESS GROWTH

Realigning a company structure doesn’t mean anything unless it better positions that company for success and growth.

KBR Link had an opportunity to speak with two KBR business development (BD) senior vice presidents, who shared a few words on what the restructuring means for KBR’s two primary businesses, for BD, and for our people and customers.

Aman Ahmad

Senior Vice President Sales and Business Development,

Sustainable Technology Solutions

How does the new KBR business structure align with growth plans?

I prefer to view it not necessarily as a new structure but rather a logical integration of the expertise, knowledge, and experiences of our brilliant teams that will enable us to solve even more complex challenges for our clients in our strategic growth vectors. As our clients and the industries in which they operate evolve, we are seeing greater cooperation on long-term planning between governments and corporations on energy security, energy infrastructure, and sustainability. This means more opportunities for KBR as we bring the full STS and MTS portfolios to solve these challenges.

What are some positive outcomes you envision for our employees and customers.

For our people, the integration provides growth and diversity into new industry segments. As an example, in the Middle East, we will be leveraging our current sales organization, generally focused on the energy sector to expand into infrastructure. Learning new businesses and meeting clients in new sectors will provide opportunities for professional growth and career development. For our clients, who look towards us as Trusted Advisors and who can benefit from our expanded offerings in either MTS or STS, it creates synergies across the portfolios and provides them with reassurance of continued excellence from a trusted partner.

How will STS BD benefit, and how will they work together to continue providing best-in-class solutions for our customers?

In a competitive world, BD is heavily reliant on establishing differentiation through our people, knowledge, technology, and portfolio. We also operate in many growth markets such as Saudi Arabia, where we see vast opportunities across the MTS and STS portfolio. We truly have the most differentiated portfolio anchored with IP, knowledge, and the industry’s best professionals, which we need to position in front of the right clients to win the right business for KBR.

What’s one thing you’re personally excited about regarding the new structure?

I am excited to meet more new people across KBR, forming new relationships, and working together to win more work together. There is a lot of fun in winning together with people you enjoy working with!

Kent Wilcher

Senior Vice President and Growth Officer

Mission Technology Solutions

How does the new KBR business structure align with growth plans?

MTS’ new structure allows KBR to go to market as a leading mission technology firm with significant global reach and scale (i.e., >$5 billion per year in revenue after welcoming LinQuest to the fold). It also makes it easier for teams to collaborate on critical areas such as AUKUS (the historic trilateral security partnership between Australia, the U.K., and the U.S.) and other cross-cutting defense and national security opportunities.

What are some positive outcomes you envision for our employees and customers.

We envision two main benefits. First, consistent with our long-held leadership approach and culture, we will empower Frazer-Nash Consultancy and our APAC (the Asia-Pacific region) teams with a high degree of local autonomy to make decisions, support clients and take care of their people. This combination of local authority and accountability for business outcomes is a key part of our current Government Solutions U.S. model that we will apply equally to MTS. Second, we will continue to prioritize investments in technology and talent so we can bring our full KBR capabilities to our clients, and we will continue to move up-market and improve technical differentiation.

How will MTS BD benefit, and how will they work together to continue providing best-in-class solutions for our customers?

Under the new MTS structure, we will leverage our growth organization and key growth initiatives, such as digitalization and AUKUS opportunities, to connect our teams so we can share capabilities horizontally across our organization. This will allow us to collaborate more easily and to bring our best capabilities and deep technical expertise to our customers from across a very broad portfolio.

What’s one thing you’re personally excited about regarding the new structure?

I’m most excited about the opportunity to get to know the Frazer-Nash and APAC teams better, to better understand their businesses and capabilities, and to find ways to win more work while continuing to increase margins.
