A Message from the KBR Executive Leadership Team
Welcome to a special end-of-year edition of KBR Link!
It’s been another exciting and successful year for KBR despite being full of new challenges.
As the worst of the pandemic subsided, the world grappled with what “normal” would look like going forward. Few could have anticipated the geopolitical and economic turmoil experienced in ways large and small all over the planet during the past year.
Even with these challenges, our people have continued doing what they always do. They’ve risen above the noise and moved as a united team of teams to deliver solutions that matter — solutions that are helping solve the greatest challenges of our time.
In short, they stayed committed and connected to each other and to our mission.
This past year, connection was our primary focus across the global business.
As we returned to offices or took up hybrid working, and as we began to re-engage with our colleagues and communities, we encouraged connection wherever it could be found — from employee resource groups (ERGs) and outreach events, to our revamped in-person and virtual Quarterly Town Halls, to quick catchups online or around the coffee maker, to happy hours and other offsite team-building activities.
Additionally, we’ve made it a priority to connect with our people through our People practices and by enhancing our employee experience. While we’re always fine-tuning and have more work to do, we are seeing improvements and positive feedback, as evidenced from our most recent People Perspectives survey results . We even embedded personal connection into our new performance review processes — connections between the employee and their people leaders, connections between team members, connections between performance and KBR business objectives, and more.
All year, KBR people have taken this message of connection to heart. It’s been inspiring to see photos on social media of our people engaging with each other and their local communities. It’s also been inspiring to see that enhanced commitment to connection in our projects and in our client relationships.
It’s fitting that in this special final 2022 issue of KBR Link, we’ve chosen to highlight how our people are staying connected to their communities through active engagement such as service projects, expanded ERG offerings and more. You’ll hear firsthand accounts from our people about how they’re paying it forward through random acts of kindness. And you’ll read about some of the exciting People initiatives coming in the new year.
As we look ahead, we know that there will undoubtedly be new challenges to overcome. But there will also be new opportunities to grow, to learn, to persevere and to do great things. We know we can succeed if we all pull together. That’s why in 2023, we’ll be doubling down on our focus on connections — with one another, with our ONE KBR Values, and to our team-of-teams culture.
So happy reading! We hope you enjoy these stories. They are stories of your dedication, determination and community-mindedness.
And from the whole ELT, please accept warm wishes for the holiday season to those celebrating, and for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
