Our Values in Action!

The ONE KBR Values are ingrained in everything we do, and over the years they have shaped how we work with our customers and colleagues and within society. This year we refreshed our values to better reflect the organization we are today. “We Value Our People” moved to the top of the list and we added a new value, “We Are a Team of Teams.”

Here are some examples from 2021 when we proudly demonstrated our values in action.

As part of our ongoing mission to make KBR the best place to work, and because we value our people, KBR launched the People Perspectives Survey globally in Q3. The survey asked employees a range of questions covering topics such as culture, inclusion and diversity, career and development, work environment, and compensation and benefits. These valuable insights have been shared with all employees to ensure transparency and accountability, and leadership teams are reviewing the data to understand where the key improvement areas lie.

KBR hosted a virtual Investor Day with the theme “Future Forward” in March, where we shared with the public our corporate strategy, 2025 financial targets and plans for how we would accelerate our reputation as a people-centered company. We also showcased our commitment to customer delivery.

This commitment has been demonstrated across the whole organization, but a prime example is how KBR’s Advisory Consulting business has supported customers in the area of energy transition. Advisory Consulting saw tremendous success this year, winning new and repeat work in differentiated areas, helping customers meet their sustainability goals, and continuing to position itself as a leader in the areas of decarbonization and energy transition for governments and companies around the world.

KBR proudly supported the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Operation Allies Welcome — a massive, coordinated effort to relocate roughly 70,000 Afghan nationals to the U.S. during the conflicts in Afghanistan. KBR was responsible for providing a wide range of services and operational support, including creating bed space for nearly 56,000 people.

The operation was performed with inclusion and diversity being a key component. KBR even developed cultural sensitivity training to help teams of employees and subcontractors learn more about the Afghan people and their culture, to be aware of religious and cultural sensitivities, and to recognize and avoid potential conflicts.

Launched this past October, the KBR Technical Journal is an annual global publication that features the brilliant work of our people through authored or co-authored research and thought leadership papers. The Technical Journal is a way to celebrate and showcase the high level of quality and expertise embedded in every one of our customer solutions from the minds of the amazing people who make up our innovative business. It is one of many opportunities for recognition and for employees to take pride in their work. Importantly, every paper featured is evidence of how KBR empowers our people to succeed in their respective fields.

The KBR Virtual Run took place in Q2 over a six-week period and saw participation from 561 KBR employees across the globe. This initiative was a huge success and the number of runners exceeded expectations! The collaboration and inclusivity exhibited by organizers, and the team spirit demonstrated by every person involved, truly displayed KBR’s team-of-teams culture.
