For more than a century, KBR has set the standard for excellence across a variety of industries. Today, we continue that legacy while maintaining our culture of Zero Harm. Here are a few examples of the exciting initiatives, announcements and innovations from across our business units that demonstrate KBR’s expertise, continued growth and commitment to a safer, more sustainable future.

KBR to Extend Artificial Intelligence Capabilities into National Security Sector

KBR has formed a strategic partnership with Adarga, one of the UK’s leading developers of artificial intelligence (AI) analytics software for defense and national security.

KBR’s Government Solutions business will integrate Adarga’s AI software platform into a number of its large-scale programs across the defense and national security sectors — putting effective, data-driven decision-making at the heart of how the programs operate.

“This partnership is an exciting step toward enhancing our innovative and highly dependable solutions-focused approach across key markets, with a shared ethos to help our customers resolve their most complex challenges,” said Andrew Barrie, Government Solutions EMEA President.

KBR’s enhanced capabilities will allow customers to improve retention of critical institutional knowledge, identify hidden connections to drive intelligence-led investigation, support strategic planning, and quantify future threats and opportunities.

Adarga CEO Robert Bassett Cross said, “Together, we will be able to provide customers with a transformational ability to leverage data as a strategic asset — a vital element of modern defense capability.”

KBR Successfully Demonstrates First Combat-Capable Directed Energy System for the U.S. Army

KBR played a key role in the Directed Energy Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense (DE M-SHORAD) Combat Shoot-Off (CSO) this summer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The CSO culminated with U.S. Army Soldiers successfully demonstrating the capabilities of a laser-equipped Stryker vehicle against representative threats in a realistic environment.

Kord, a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR, is the prime contractor and lead integrator for the Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) DE M-SHORAD program.

“The successful execution of the DE M-SHORAD system represents a major step forward in getting this state-of-the-art capability to our Soldiers on the ground, in line with the U.S. Army’s modernization strategy for air and missile defense,” said Byron Bright, KBR Government Solutions President. “In under two years, the program has rapidly progressed from design to integration and is now performing in an operational environment, which is a tremendous accomplishment.”

DE M-SHORAD is a fully mobile, 50-kilowatt-class high energy laser capable of delivering sustained counter-unmanned aircraft systems and counter-rocket, -artillery and -mortar firepower to the modern battlefield. The CSO showcased the system’s ability to maneuver and engage multiple targets at various ranges utilizing cutting-edge technologies. It also highlighted the ability of the KBR team to rapidly train Soldiers on how to use the prototype.

Following the successful shoot-off, RCCTO announced the program is still on track to deliver a platoon of four laser-equipped Strykers by the end of fiscal year 2022.

“This marks the beginning of the next chapter of technologically advanced weaponry, proving that highly mobile, lethal laser weapons are here to stay,” said Bright.
