KBR Gives New Life to Laptops

KBR’s Operations Security Solutions group has created a program that works with South Carolina nonprofit SC Codes to recycle personally owned laptops and mice for people who are transitioning into the world of coding.

Inspired by KBR’s sustainability focus, the group started “New Life for Laptops” earlier this year to keep computers out of landfills and to refurbish them for economically disadvantage students. Employees supporting the program perform a U.S. Department of Defense-level hardware wipe and reimage the donated computers before providing them to SC Codes to distribute.

“New Life for Laptops gives KBR employees and suppliers an opportunity to do good for the environment and feel secure disposing of old technology while providing critical resources to students looking to enter the knowledge economy. Through our program, everyone wins,” said Josh Silverman, one of the program leads.

The Operations Security Solutions group has already recycled 11 laptops, with a goal of 50 recycled devices this year. For more information, or to donate your laptop, email Josh.

KBR Advisory Consulting Business Wins Big in First Quarter

KBR’s Advisory Consulting business is a leading voice in the areas of decarbonization and energy transition for governments and companies around the world. If first quarter performance in 2021 is any indication, that voice is growing stronger.

Advisory Consulting achieved an outstanding level of success in Q1, boasting nearly 50 contract wins with an impressive mix of repeat awards, exciting opportunities with new customers in new locations, and a growing breadth of work.

As the global race to stem the tide of climate change has built momentum, demand for Advisory Consulting’s world-class services has grown, with more and more governments and companies relying on the team’s domain expertise and comprehensive understanding of today’s market and technology trends.

The awards from Q1 2021 show the range of that expertise, from dynamic simulations, to feasibility studies, to technical assessments. They also reveal the depth of customers’ trust in KBR. The company won many of these awards based in part on its strong legacy of successfully delivering studies for major customers over the past three decades.
