KBR Writing Style Guide

Welcome to the KBR Writing Style Guide!

The KBR Writing Style Guide is the definitive resource for writing in KBR’s house writing style.

These guidelines and tips are meant to be a helpful reference for anyone who writes for KBR — whether you work in marketing and communications, human resources, business development, or any other department or business group.

Generally, KBR follows the guidance and best practices found in the Associated Press Stylebook. However, there are exceptions, which we’ve tried to capture in this document. But we will regularly update the KBR Writing Style Guide if and when changes to our house style occur, so we encourage writers from across the company to check back often if you have questions.

Why a style guide?

KBR has numerous processes and mechanisms in place — from risk and governance to HSSE (health, safety, security and environment) to our sustainability policy — to ensure our business and our people are protected at all times.

Just as we strive to do Zero Harm to our planet, our people and the business, we should also strive to do no harm to the KBR brand, including when we’re writing.

KBR is known for doing great things that matter to the rest of the world. We’re known for our expertise in crucial areas of global importance.

Therefore, it’s crucial that we communicate about the solutions and expertise we deliver in the most consistent, professional possible manner.

A unified writing style — consistent use of voice and tone, proper punctuation and formatting, and so on — will help us do just that.
