What We Do
With a solutions portfolio, customer base and team of employee experts as diverse as KBR’s, it might be tricky to explain what we do. That’s why we developed a short statement that describes what KBR does in the simplest, clearest terms. That statement is:
We deliver science, technology and engineering solutions to governments and companies around the world.
We want every member of our team of teams to feel pride and personal ownership when sharing who we are and what we do as a company. Here a few examples of the amazing solutions our people deliver.
Science
- KBR experts are helping shape the future of space exploration and habitability. We currently select, train, support and monitor astronauts for NASA, and our teams of scientists are helping identify and mitigate the effects of zero gravity on the human body over extended periods of time.
- We have developed an extensive portfolio of catalysts (substances used to speed up chemical reactions while lowering energy) that, when used with our proprietary technology solutions, are both more environmentally friendly and safer to handle than competitors’.
Technology
- KBR has deployed sustainable technology at military facilities around the world, creating greater energy efficiency and reducing costs and overall carbon emissions. These include solar and wind lights in the Middle East, eco-friendly electric vehicles in Africa, and smart meter solutions for the U.S. Navy.
- We have a suite of green technologies that help customers decarbonize their assets and/or promote circular economy, including a revolutionary plastics recycling technology that can break down waste plastics into energy feedstock and other usable products.
- As part of the Transforming Forensics Programme in the U.K., KBR has worked alongside forensics and policing experts to network police forensic capabilities, connected existing IT systems to consolidate processes and policies, and designed a first-of-its-kind integrated fingerprinting capability.
Engineering
- KBR has extensive technical and commercial knowledge across the carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) value chain and has been a part of some of the most notable global CCUS projects, including the world’s largest carbon capture and storage site, capable of extracting three to four metric tons of CO2 per year.
- KBR software engineers have developed numerous cutting-edge digitalization solutions for the defense and industrials sectors. These include KBR InSite℠, a cloud-based virtual plant monitoring/advisory service, and handheld and/or wearable augmented reality demonstrators that support various training systems and virtual training solutions, such as for Australia’s massive landing helicopter dock ships.
