Water and Sewerage Networks
Efficient and reliable network solutions
Maintaining reliable and efficient water supply and sewerage networks is critical for protecting public health, preserving the environment, supporting population growth, promoting economic development, ensuring sustainability, and responding to emergencies.
Smarter networks enabled by data help reduce operating costs and save money over the long term such as reducing water loss through leaks and improving wastewater treatment processes. These strategies can result in lower operating costs and fewer expensive repairs and associated interruptions to communities.

We tailor our designs to the physical, environmental and economic constraints of each project, and fully consider long-term operations and whole-of-life costs to ensure water networks remain reliable and operational. Additionally, we are adept at working within national or regional standards or guidelines ensuring that infrastructure designed aligns with the requirements of our clients across Australia.

Water distribution
As one of Australia’s leading water engineering providers, we offer extensive expertise in water distribution network systems such as pipeline, valves, and pumps, as well as storage tanks and reservoirs that balance demand variations over time to ensure a steady supply of water.

Sewer systems
We also plan, design and deliver sewer systems infrastructure and support associated maintenance activities by regularly completing inspections to assess condition and recommend remedial measures where necessary. Using the best available technology these high-risk internal inspections can be completed in a safe manner protecting our people and the environment.
In partnership with Decentralised Water Australia (DWA), KBR has developed SewerSelect – a web-based decision support tool to identify sustainable, long-term wastewater management options for regional communities needing to transition away from onsite domestic wastewater management approaches.
The solution enables councils to better understand the costs and key factors influencing the feasibility of various wastewater management solutions and identify opportunities to implement integrated water cycle management, which is fundamental to reducing small towns’ carbon footprint and helping communities adapt and build resilience against the growing effects of climate change.

Stormwater systems
As part of the urban water cycle, stormwater management systems collect and treat rainwater and runoff from streets and other impervious surfaces. These systems typically include catch/detention basins, storm drains, and retention ponds to prevent flooding and improve water quality.
Our water sensitive urban design specialists understand how we can achieve both environmental improvement and flood prevention initiatives within this complex environment.
