Sustainable maritime assets for a secure future
Sea transport is critical for economic prosperity and national security. With the nation dependent on international import and export trade, it’s imperative that supply chains are able to move freight and goods domestically.
We are a recognised leader in the delivery of maritime projects, with a strong portfolio of transport, resources, and Defence projects; from master planning through to construction support. Our solutions consider long-term operations and whole-of-life costs, measuring success not only by the immediate results, but by the long-term outcomes and benefits to the community.
Defence infrastructure
As one of the Australian Defence Force’s top Defence Contractors, we are committed to supporting the Commonwealth to protect the safety of all Australians through the design, project management, and delivery of critical maritime defence infrastructure. Our work supports the introduction of new capabilities, and sustainment of existing facilities, from ship building facilities to naval bases.
Port infrastructure
The import and export of produce, manufactured goods, rare earths, and energy products is critical to Australia’s economic growth. We provide the marine and port infrastructure that enables these important trades, tailoring solutions to the construction, operational, and budgetary requirements of individual ports. Our experience encompasses dredging and reclamation, marine off-loading facilities, subsea pipelines, and offshore resources facilities.
With invaluable inputs from our environmental teams, we protect some of the world’s most sensitive marine environments, offering expertise in complex coastal modelling, climate change impacts, and ecological and cultural impact assessments to ensure ports have a minimal impact on the natural environment.
Recreational and public transport infrastructure
Being an island, recreational boating plays an important part of the Australian lifestyle. Public maritime infrastructure is driven by safe boating principles and can often result in additional infrastructure to maintain safety, such as breakwaters to provide protection required to the boat ramp, jetty or pontoon. Our team understands the importance of these facilities to the general public, and our comprehensive understanding of coastal process and their impact on the environment allows us to manage the project lifecycle of these facilities, from concept to construction.
Asset life assessment
We offer expertise in maritime asset life assessments. This includes load rating of existing structures, DDA compliance, and the deterioration of timber, concrete and steel in the maritime environment. We have an internally developed assessment methodology for the condition assessment of maritime structures – particularly of timber piles that offers improved value for money over traditional methods.
Coastal modelling
Coastal modelling is an essential part of any maritime project. It builds a strong understanding of the behaviour of coastal systems, including the interactions between water, sediments, waves, tides, currents, and structures such as coastal buildings, seawalls, and jetties.
Our team of experts applies complex modelling to understand and predict the response of coastal areas to different scenarios, such as storm surges, rising sea-level, erosion, sediment transport, and coastal engineering projects. This modelling helps to reduce risk and suboptimal impacts to marine infrastructure.
