Our RAP
KBR is proud to launch our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which provides a framework upon which we can realise our vision for reconciliation and maps out practical steps to engage with and respect First Nations organisations and to improve cultural understanding throughout KBR in Australia and globally.
Importantly, our RAP will support and guide our workplace culture and enhance employee understanding and inclusion. Our RAP will be a vital tool to drive improved opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, stakeholders and communities.
KBR launched its first RAP in 2019, however, our Reconciliation journey began the year prior when our senior leaders committed to initiating transformational changes for the company, our employees, our partners and our customers. KBR’s Reflect RAP was launched in September 2019. The Reflect RAP described how KBR contributed to promoting and facilitating respect, trust and positive relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We have distilled our Innovate RAP into three significant action groupings which gives our workforce an opportunity to be involved in the delivery of our RAP:
- Increase cultural competence across our organisation
- Increase indigenous engagement, where we work and live
- Increase indigenous participation in our workforce and supply chain.

Our Reflect RAP was launched at KBR’s Canberra Office, on Ngunnawal land, with an official Welcome to Country and a traditional smoking ceremony. The plan was endorsed at the highest level, with KBR President and CEO Stuart Bradie engaged throughout the RAP’s development and launch.
Now, in 2023, our Innovate RAP is again endorsed by Stuart, and is championed by KBR’s most senior Australian leaders - Government Solutions Asia Pacific Vice President Nic Maan and Infrastructure Solutions Australia Vice President Wayne Nolan. Rob and Wayne are sponsors of KBR’s National RAP Steering Group, which is chaired by Michael Hardy, Director of Innovation & Technology. The Steering Group sets the strategic framework to support the deliverables outlined in our RAP. It meets bi-monthly to review RAP progress and to remove obstacles to RAP success.
KBR’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan is driven by our National RAP Working Group, which is responsible for developing our RAP commitments and raising internal awareness and ensures that our state and territory RAP working groups are successful in delivering on our RAP actions and deliverables by providing strategic advice and ensure they are fully supported and equipped for success. The National Working Group meets monthly and is made up of the following people.
KBR’s National Indigenous Engagement Manager Dr Todd Phillips, a proud Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr man from New South Wales, sits on both our National RAP Steering Group and our National RAP Working Group.
