Message from the CEO, KBR
I am proud to introduce KBR’s second Reconciliation Action Plan – our Innovate RAP. Yet again the team in Australia is leading our global workforce in recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Building upon our Reflect RAP, we are now progressing to the next level of engagement and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, individuals and organisations. Through our Innovate RAP we will increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ participation in our workforce and supply chain, creating a positive impact both in Australia and globally.
We continue to be more than a global company — we live and work in communities around the world, and our actions impact each other. It is our obligation to respect and support these communities and their values, and in Australia our Innovate RAP plays a key role in guiding how we do so.
KBR recognises the rich history and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, amongst the over 120 nationalities and cultures reflected in our global workforce. With this, our two-year Innovate RAP, KBR continues its recognition and respect of all cultures.

Message from the CEO, Reconciliation Australia
Reconciliation Australia commends KBR on the formal endorsement of its inaugural Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Commencing an Innovate RAP is a crucial and rewarding period in an organisation’s reconciliation journey. It is a time to build strong foundations and relationships, ensuring sustainable, thoughtful, and impactful RAP outcomes into the future. Since 2006, RAPs have provided a framework for organisations to leverage their structures and diverse spheres of influence to support the national reconciliation movement.
This Innovate RAP is both an opportunity and an invitation for KBR to expand its understanding of its core strengths and deepen its relationship with its community, staff, and stakeholders.
By investigating and understanding the integral role it plays across its sphere of influence, KBR will create dynamic reconciliation outcomes, supported by and aligned with its business objectives.
An Innovate RAP is the time to strengthen and develop the connections that form the lifeblood of all RAP commitments. The RAP program’s framework of relationships, respect, and opportunities emphasises not only the importance of fostering consultation and collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, but also empowering and enabling staff to contribute to this process, as well.
With close to 3 million people now either working or studying in an organisation with a RAP, the program’s potential for impact is greater than ever. KBR is part of a strong network of more than 2,200 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have taken goodwill and intention, and transformed it into action.
Implementing an Innovate RAP signals KBR’s readiness to develop and strengthen relationships, engage staff and stakeholders in reconciliation, and pilot innovative strategies to ensure effective outcomes.
Getting these steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives, and provide meaningful impact toward Australia’s reconciliation journey.
Congratulations KBR on your Innovate RAP and I look forward to following your ongoing reconciliation journey.

Vice President, Government Solutions Asia Pacific, KBR
In 2019 we started our reconciliation journey in Australia. Our Reflect RAP was ambitious and, as one of the early movers in our sector, we were honoured to be a corporate leader taking important steps towards reconciliation. It was anticipated that we would all move forward at the same rate, that our Reflect RAP would lead our entire workforce on the road to reconciliation.
Fast forward 4 years and our combined efforts and steps forward have paved the way for an even more ambitious Innovate RAP. Our Innovate RAP will increase cultural competence across our workforce and embed greater participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our workforce and supply chain. Central to the Innovate RAP’s success is engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, in the many places KBR has a footprint, including in the cities and towns where our offices are located, and in regions where we do business.
Those changes and opportunities continue to be at the forefront of our business policies and values. I expect to see significant growth in those outcomes, over the next 2 years, during the life of our Innovate RAP and beyond.
Wayne Nolan
Vice President, Infrastructure Solutions Australia, KBR
When we launched our Reflect RAP in 2019, there was a great sense of pride across our business. I committed to increasing KBR’s knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Our investment in CORE cultural learning for the entire workforce has been an important step in ensuring that everyone walks on our reconciliation journey. CORE is an innovative online platform developed to create a greater awareness of the vast history and cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At KBR, we continue to create solutions that enhance our society by building, valuing and promoting diversity and inclusiveness across our business and in our communities.
Over the life of our Innovate RAP, we will expand cultural competence learning opportunities for our employees and hold more on-Country experiences, bringing to life the stories of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in which we live, play and work. Through this, we will continue to deepen our ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures inside and outside of our business.
My commitment is to increase participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our organisation, either as employees, advisors or suppliers. From personal experiences, I have seen the value created by diverse perspectives and ideas, creating sustainable solutions that benefit our customers, employees and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities that our projects impact.
We have an exciting two years ahead as we continue our reconciliation journey through our Innovate RAP.
Dr Todd Phillips
National Indigenous Engagement Manager, KBR
As a proud Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr man and KBR’s National Indigenous Engagement Manager, I feel very honoured to be an employee of a global company that is making a genuine commitment to Reconciliation, and I am looking forward to the exciting work we have planned within our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
With the support and commitment of senior leaders across our organisation over the next two years we will continue to implement meaningful action to advance reconciliation within the three pillars of our RAP.
We will achieve this by continuing to build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and stakeholders, by embedding greater levels of respect and shaping broader awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culture, and by identifying real opportunities to enhance training, employment and greater supplier diversity.
