Integrated project management office
Carrapateena is a copper-gold deposit located in South Australia’s highly prospective Gawler Craton, approximately 160 km north of Port Augusta which was purchased by OZ Minerals in 2011. KBR was engaged to provide Project Management services as part of an Integrated Project Team to support the finalization of the feasibility study and, following board approval, full execution of the project. Services provided included project management, engineering management, project controls, commercial and contract management, site construction management, HSE management and quality management.
- At its peak, a total of 60 employees from KBR and OZ Minerals worked on the project.
- Delivered 30 separate work packages.
Core packages in execution phase of the project include:
- Minerals Processing Plant (MPP) & Non-Process Infrastructure
- Tailings Storage Facility (TSF)
- 550 bed Accommodation Village
- Bore field and Water Supply
- Water Treatment for mine-site and camp
- 133 kV Regional Power Supply via BOOM contract
- Underground Infrastructure Package
- Major access road upgrades and construction of new 52 km road
- Aerodrome capable of supporting 100-seater jets with 1.6 km long runway.
KBR is now supporting OZ Minerals on their next major project development at West Musgrave Copper Nickel mine in WA currently in Feasibility and Site Establishment.
