ARAFURA Nolans Project
High Purity Rare Earth Project
Located 135km north of Alice Springs, the Nolans Project is one of the largest rare earths projects in the world, most of which is enriched with ‘magnet feed’ rare earths, known as neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr).
KBR has been the Project Management Consultant since 2019, through which we work in collaboration with our sub-consultant Wave International Engineering as an Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT). The IPMT project manages the Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure for the ~A$1.5b Nolans Project to source critical rare earths minerals in Australia’s Northern Territory.
When the plant is in operation, Arafura hopes it will be able to supply between five and ten per cent of the world’s magnet rare earths supply and, throughout its 38-year mine life, produce more than 4,400 tonnes of NdPr Oxide product each year. The project is on track to begin production by the end of 2024.
In addition to providing integrated program management solutions, KBR is also supporting Arafura to develop it’s pathway to achieve their Net-Zero by 2050.
