Sustainable biofuels
Sustainable biofuels play an important role in the global energy transition and are produced from renewable energy feedstocks or carbon rich sources through a chemical conversion process. Whether liquid or gaseous, sustainable biofuels can be used as like-for-like replacements for fossil jet fuel, diesel and fuel oil, burning cleanly, and reducing pollutants associated with fossil fuel use, such as particulates and nitrogen oxides. Both the volume and energy density of synthetic fuels are similar to existing fuels, meaning the existing infrastructure for fossil fuels can be utilised for biofuel distribution, storage and delivery.
