Fun!

We all come to work ‘to work’, yet we believe that the best workplaces are ones where people can also have a bit of fun. Research shows that happy employees communicate and collaborate better, and are more creative and productive. We spend a huge amount of our lives at work, and KBR employees tackle world challenges every day, so having a sociable environment where we can connect and celebrate together is good for our people and good for our business. As one employee put it, “Simple amazed to work with such a dynamic, fast paced and fun-filled team”. In 2021, just 54% of employees said they felt KBR is a fun place to work, and in 2022 we were pleased to see that this increased to 66%, and that 67% of employees said we celebrate special events, compared to just 52% in 2021. Big thanks to everyone for helping bring the fun back – let’s keep it up!

Flexibility

When Covid struck and many employees began to work remotely, a large portion of KBR employees continued to work on project sites or at KBR offices, showing true dedication to their customers. We thank them for the personal sacrifices they have made to serve their country and our customers. Today, around 20% of our people work full-time at customer sites, and 79% feel KBR is a great place to work, slightly lower than the 82% positive response from other survey participants. It is incumbent on us to work extra hard to ensure these key people feel connected to and supported by KBR, and this will be picked up in local action plans.

Over 50% of KBR employees always, or often, work from home, and this group is the most positive overall. 86% say KBR is a great place to work, summarized nicely by one colleague who said “KBR's willingness to trust its employees and offer the ability to work from home and to remain flexible is the greatest thing for employees”. Staying connected to those who are 100% remote is still important, and we will continue to make efforts in this area.

Work environment

76% of employees feel our facilities contribute to a good working environment and there were many comments and suggestions about how to improve. These will be considered as part of local action planning to see how we can improve in this area. There were also some business areas where office politics are causing concerns to employees, with 1 in 4 employees saying this is an issue. This is not in line with our One KBR Values and will also be picked up as we develop local action plans.
