We empower employees to grow by providing diverse learning opportunities and flagship development programs, and aspire to a learning and coaching culture where our people accelerate to their full potential. Statements like the one below show how much our employees value such growth opportunities, which happen every day as people face new challenges and progress their technical and leadership skills.

“The opportunity the company gives individuals to grow and development their careers is amazing. I feel very supported at KBR, and am highly appreciative of all the opportunities the company has given me to date.”
Performance management
Most development happens on the job, and meaningful real-time feedback from managers is central to this, which is why we have been piloting Agile Performance Management in a number of business areas. Across KBR, 79% of employees say they have had a conversation with their immediate manager about their development in the last six months, and we are continuing to roll-out this modern approach to coaching and development.
Early careers
While 65% say they are offered training or development to further themselves professionally, this is not as high as we would like it to be. While Gen Z respondents replied more positively (75%), this drops to 63% for Millennials and we clearly have more to do here so will ensure we address this in local action plans. IMPACT has partnered with the Talent team to develop a new series of curated learning journeys to support early career professionals. The IMPACT Launch Pad is a one stop point for basic resources for all Early Career Professionals across the world to begin their career in KBR. Launch Pad comprises Vision Series Webinar overviews of KBR business units and opportunities; the KBR Career Progression Guide to kick start one’s career ladder, and a curated journey of courses compiled exclusively for IMPACT for professional and leadership skills development. Promotions fairness
In the 2021 employee survey, less than half of employees expressed the view that promotion decisions were fair, and since then we have been working within business areas and across KBR to address this significant concern. We want everyone to have career progression opportunities, so earlier this year launched our Career Progression Guide which defines best practice to ensure promotion decisions are fair, and gives practical guidance on how to be informed, prepared and visible to take advantage of promotions opportunities as they arise. It is pleasing that this year’s survey showed significant progress, with 64% of employees now feeling promotions go to those who best deserve them. We will continue to focus on this area to empower all employees to have a long, fulfilling career at KBR.
Management training
We are also investing in development of people transitioning into frontline leadership roles for the first time. The Front Line Leaders program helps develop capability in a range of important areas – emotional awareness, influencing, motivating and coaching, and business acumen. After a successful pilot, we are working with businesses leaders to determine how to roll this out across KBR. As well as supporting leaders who have been newly promoted, the program will be available to those who are already acting as frontline leaders to support their continual personal development. And we will also make it available for those who aspire to leadership roles in the future, to help them prepare for this career step.
Technical training
KBR people already demonstrate deep technical expertise, and a number of our distinguished technical leaders were recognized in 2022 when we launched the One KBR Tech Fellows Program. Our Communities of Interest bring together subject matter experts in topics ranging from Data Science & Analytics and Digital Engineering to Cloud and Cyber, enabling them to share information, innovation and learning in these strategically important technical fields. Further plans are afoot to launch a Career Hub, with competency frameworks, career ladders and access to technical training already offered within KBR.
In addition, there is a wealth of resources available in KBR Learning for learners to watch, read, listen to, practice and assess. Technical skills covered include those for:
