Work Environment
The 2020 Reimagining How We Deliver initiative was a step change accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It enabled us to take several practical steps to turn KBR into a more modern, agile organization (e.g., flexible work arrangements, more relaxed dress code, reconfigured offices). We understand our employees spend most of their lives at work and that the work they do matters to the rest of the world. We hire people for their minds — because that work is so important. That’s why a focus on mental health and fitness is a key element for creating environments where people can flourish.
Stress
Stress can be an issue, for which feeling in control can be an antidote

Work-life balance
Work-life balance is also a challenge. We recognize we expect a lot, but we need to ensure it’s not too much.

Performance enablement
Performance enablement is another factor that’s top of mind. We saw we have work to do to ensure our people have the tools and training they need to get the job done.

“Technology improvements are great, but KBR shouldn’t stop there. We also need to improve programs like Workday and Costpoint to make them more efficient.”
What we’re doing to improve our work environment
This year has been a watershed for improving the KBR employee experience. We stood up a Global Mental Health and Well-being Committee that meets regularly to explore and implement new policies, programs and initiatives that will help ensure our employees have the tools they need to proactively take care of their mental health and well-being. We launched the global Well-being Ambassadors program, which trains KBR employees to recognize when a colleague may be experiencing a mental health issue and how to respond. We implemented manager training courses. And we launched meQ, an app-based platform available to KBR employees that helps build resilience, face change and uncertainty, and manage stress through personalized action plans. Additionally, KBR has enhanced its Employee Support Program. Through our partner, Workplace Options, KBR employees and their families now have free, 24/7 access to a suite of resources, support and services. Another massive improvement has been KBR Agile Work Weeks. Please see the Compensation and Benefits section for more information.

What's next?
The messages provided by our employees through the People Perspectives survey have been heard loud and clear. As an off-the-shelf system, we recognize that Workday is not fully customizable for KBR processes, but we continue to look for opportunities to improve our user experience, both for employees and managers. For example, in 2022, we are planning to upgrade to a new user interface, which should make the whole Workday experience more intuitive. We are also investing in new Workday app developments, which will enable experiences more tailored to KBR employees’ and managers’ needs. And finally, to address performance enablement concerns, local management teams will be reviewing your feedback from this survey to determine which improvement areas are most important, and prioritizing actions which can help you perform at your best every day.
