Unsurprisingly, responses to Zero Harm-related questions around safety garnered mostly positive responses. And while questions about sustainability didn’t score quite as high as safety, we’re committed to improving on those response numbers as sustainability continues to be a primary focus at KBR.

feel able to discuss work hazards and safety issues freely and openly
believe KBR is committed to supporting the environment for future generations
ONE KBR Values
In 2021, after extensive consultation across the business, KBR refreshed our company values. “We Value Our People” moved to the top of the list and we added “We Are a Team of Teams.” We introduced these values through conversations between managers and employees. If you didn’t have an opportunity to participate in those conversations, please speak with your manager about how you can set this up now. We felt it was important to learn whether our values translate into the employee experience, which is why such a large section of the survey focused on them.

ONE KBR — our people-driven, customer-obsessed team-of-teams mentality — is the foundation of everything we do. The ONE KBR Values drive our business strategies, processes and culture.

What we’re doing to embed our ONE KBR Values
While most feedback on our values was positive, there is still room for improvement, which we plan to address. Three-quarters of employees believe KBR encourages innovation, yet we would prefer this to be even higher. Significant work has happened over recent years to launch KBR Communities of Interest, and we encourage all employees to participate in these communities. To raise awareness of our plans to support innovation and growth, we will also be sharing a strategic update from our recent Vision Series with all employees. We are planning to make this a recurring event to keep all employees informed and engaged. We were very disappointed to see that half of our employees lack confidence in the fairness of promotion decisions, and we are committed to addressing this important topic. As a first step, we are planning to discuss this with a cross section of senior managers from across KBR, after which we will engage with employees, managers and HR teams to identify ways to improve. With regard to community engagement, a number of people responded that they think KBR doesn’t do enough to support local communities. KBR is proud to support the communities where we live and work, as well as organizations around the world that align with our vision and values, through sponsorship, employee participation and volunteerism, or charitable giving. But we have more work to do in this area. Below is a list of just some of the events, initiatives and charities that KBR has supported in 2021. A more comprehensive list of KBR’s community outreach and support efforts from 2020 — as well as examples of how our people stepped up to support communities and front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic — can be seen in the 2020 Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Report.

What's next?
Embedding our values in our everyday experience is an ongoing process, and we continue to identify opportunities to raise awareness and reinforce the importance of these to our winning culture. Plans are already underway to create ONE KBR Values badges for all employees. The HR team is also reinforcing our values in our people processes, for example by updating our selection and exit interview questions and reiterating our values in all our new training programs.
