Modern Warfare:

How KBR’s Guiding the Next Generation of Agile Software Development and Data Analytics

KBR’s engineering and IT team of experts work on-site at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in support of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Digital Modernization Strategy. The DoD’s strategic plan was implemented by 2019 as the global threat landscape continues to evolve. The Air Force must remain competitive and modernizing digital environments is imperative to secure future success.

As a well-known government technology leader and innovator, KBR was called upon to lead this mission and ensure that the military has the necessary tools to keep its advantage on both the physical and virtual battlefield.

What’s at Stake?

KBR’s Air Force contracting modernization project has three main goals:

  • Consolidate infrastructure
  • Streamline processes
  • Strengthen workforce

What's Happening?

KBR’s efforts in the above goals are applied to a variety of projects in order to guide and enhance the Air Force’s talent development as well as improve systems and process efficiencies:

  • Enhance Contracting Information Technology System (CON-IT)
  • Upgrade Single contract management system (CMS)
  • Replace seven legacy contract writing systems, a total of 11,500 users
  • KBR offers training courses on more than 20 capabilities to help our customers cultivation of talent through development and learning opportunities.

Where's the Data?

KBR’s research is based on commercial-off-the-shelf Appian low-code platform originally developed by DISA (Integrated Defense Enterprise Acquisition System (IDEAS)). KBR’s cloud solution is hosted at a USDA NITC Impact Level 4 (IL4) data center.
