Workday Absence Request - Step by step

  1. Visit Workday
  2. Navigate to the upper left corner and click on Menu.
  3. Under Personal, click on Absence > Manage Absence.
  4. Click Actions > The Absence calendar will appear defaulting to the current month.
  5. Start and End Date Select the days for Absence Request Click on # Days – Continue.
  6. Select Type of Absence: In the drop down. Active Military (Not training) This option applies to all active armed forces LOA.
  7. Enter any comments or attach orders to ensure all teams have the correct details (dates, duty status and type of orders).
  8. Click Submit Request.
  • A Military Leave of Absence should include coordination with both your HR People Partner and your manager. This ensures that all relevant stakeholders are informed and can provide guidance and support while tracking important dates and documentation.
  • While you are on an approved Military Leave of Absence, timesheets may be handled in one or more of the following ways for the first 30 days:

  1. Entered and submitted for approval by you, in advance of the leave*.
  2. Entered and approved by your manager on your behalf each week*.
  3. Entered and submitted for approval each week by you if you have access to do so while you are away.

*You must review any time entries which were submitted in advance or made on your behalf when you return from leave to confirm accuracy, and you should make corrections as necessary.
